I've reached the half-way

mark with the 100 Day Challenge!
Here's some from the last week or so...
Didn't have time to stop by a favorite from our college days... but loved seeing the roadside flowers as we traveled.

Last year during Art Journal Summer School we were encouraged to
add maps of the places we visit...
I love it!
I also like to include quotes that are meaningful to me...
This one, somehow, has really helped my anxiety through the years...
... and my take on iconic signs...
...Things that show what I'm up to...
And things that inspire me from the interwebs...
 [Inspired by Heidi Swapp.]
I woke up one morning thinking I needed to weave some papers...
then the next morning knowing I needed to do a pineapple ...
Do you do this too?
More inspired by Deb Weird art..
We're tourists!
Also a nod to the Royal wedding -
[Do you see it?]
More maps for our traveling day.
And a napkin from the plane...
Back at home I was thrilled to see how lovely
the oak leaf hydrangea looked out front!
So I did my best to capture it in my art journal.
And lastly , we ended the week with #LottieScotty at a Serro Scotty camping event...
Honestly, I'll probably go back and add a little more to these two pages.
Maybe a few fireflies... or a moon and stars...
We'll see -
But that's it for now.
Hope you're coming along nicely with your take on the 100 Day Challenge!
I love seeing what everyone's doing!

Hrre's more from

my art journal and the 100 Day Challenge -
Still loving it!
Soo..  we're working backwards a bit from mother's day...
The background on this page is some paper that wrapped a dish I bought -
I used it to wipe excess paint off my paint brushes I - love the mixed look of it all!
[I added paint around the photo to blend it in a bit - ]
This one is to show what an awesome job Haley did swimming in the ocean while doing the ironman. [Inspired by google art - ]
I'm trying to add a map in when we travel --
And also wanted to capture some memories of childhood trips to PCB -
Cool thing: Craig found a sand dollar on this trip that's bigger than a half dollar -
[It's bleaching [and getting the stinky out] as I type this - ]
Truth.
But I've got to stay home long enough to plant them!
Flowers are made with crepe paper streamers and patterned paper.
Another church for a Sunday morning - and the octopus is an inside joke.
I don't eat it.
That was pretty clear to those around me one day - ha.
And lastly, a simple cacti scene that I did on May 5th.
Used patterned papers and washi tapes.
I think cacti will show up again in a week or so...
Hope y'all are sticking with the 100 Day Challenge!
We're half-way through!
Yoohoo!!

100 Day Challenge update!

Remember - no judging!
LOL -
Because --
How cna I go from this:
To THIS - ha!

I really do need to take a class on animal drawing!!

And I love this one, inspired by an on-line class; it reminds me of the she-art girls that got me started on my little art journey...
This one is reflective of how I feel as summer is upon us
and I've been to the beach twice already -
And these are some that reflect our days near Dauphin Island -
This one has a base of a catalog beach scene that I painted over a bit [and added waves] before using die-cut numbers and alpha stickers.
And this on is my attempt to draw the seagulls that are always a
welcomed sight when we go to The Gulf -
I printed the chip bag on the computer and glued it in - ]
Still loving the 100 day challenge as
I use my art journal to document our lives a bit -
More to come!

I am LOVING the 100 Day Challenge!

Google it if you want to know more -
Basically a challenge to CREATE something
-- ANYTHING --
ev.er.y.day. for 100 days -
[Above inspired by Deb Weirs Art
- I may end up having one every few weeks - ]
Y'all know I'm working in  a little art journal -
and much of what I'm putting in there represents
what is going on in my life at the time -

[This is actually a computer print-out of a picture Home Depot sells -
it kept popping up in my feed and I LOVED it -
so I used it.
Google Home Depot prints nad you'll find it if you'd like to have it for your home.]

A lot of what I'm sharing today is a reflection of my time at the

Becoming Conference in North Caroline last month -
Prior to going to #BecomingConf I searched out some quotes on becoming
and printed my favorites for this page -
[You'll see that I like to include maps if I'm travelin']
Then after I got home I wanted to remember some of the things that Christy Jordan [@SouthernPlate[ shared with us; so I did this page -
Just some of my notes from one of her sessions -
And one to reflect the beautiful mountains I saw -
Remember! this is MY interpretation - lol
[And my art journal is MY place to PLAY -
I don't worry about imperfections -]
This is also a print available at Home Depot - but it reminded me of the flower decorations on the walls of one of the session rooms so I knew I wanted to include it in my art journal -
Again, with a quote from KariAnn of Thistlewood Farms...
And this last one?
Well, I'm feeling a little piggy since I've gained some weight and while I think this one is adorable - it's really in there to remind me to eat right and take better care of myself -
There you have it.
I'm continuing to number them to
old myself accountable to the one hundred days ...
And I'll admit to working ahead sometimes...
or maybe catching up...
But what's important is that I'm intnetinally taking the tim
to be creative in some way most every day -
I encourage you to give it a go!

I've probably already shared all

of these on social media in one way or another -
But I just have to say [again!] how much I'm enjoying my interleaved Bible! It has a blank page between each page of scripture so you can freely create without covering the verses.
And. I. Love. It.
I"m not sure why... but I did very little work in my art journals last year, so it's been really fun to get back into whole pages where I can be creative in all kinds of ways.
These pages are thicker than a regular Bible, but still a little thin for art journaling so I covered the page above with gesso, then some tissues from old dress patterns, then more gesso, before adding paint. [Just plain ole acrylics.] The words are from Illustrated Faith Print and Pray and diecuts... the stamp's from CitrusTwist [such great stuff!!]

I'm not taking any year long classes this year -
But I am trying to embrace my thought for the year with quotes and scriptures....
This page is just paint, white alpha stickers and white pen...
I tried to paint a sunrise photo I took while 'on the road.'

And I'm going to try and keep up with the Journal 52 prompts [a facebook group that is full of artists from all kinds of backgrounds!]  I hope to complete each one in this interleaved Bible...This page has paint - alpha stickers - die cuts from Bo Bunny 'faith' collection and Illustrated Faith...
These [J52] prompts were 'strange' and listen.' This page has a print and pray from Illustrated Faith [really SO easy to download and print and use -] that I added paint to so it would look larger... then the cut-outs,  my hand writing, and alpha stickers...
Speaking of the Print and Pray - there's usually a free devotional available on Sunday...
So, I've set another goal to dig into those each week and use this Bible to truly journal bit...
Above is the page in progress..
And here is the finished page... the only things I added to the Print and Pray were a strip of patterned paper to make another banner piece and the banner at the bottom.
Everything  else is from the print-out. I cut out one of the tabs so the word Sabbath would show through and taped it over the scripture [as a tip in so it can be flipped up] to highlight the verse. I'm not loving that glossy mod podge though - lol.
I hope these pages help you see that you can do whatever you want in your art journals, and that you can use art to worship our Lord.
If you have questions - please email me since I am so technically challenged I don't know how to respond to comments on my blog - ha.

Gonna throw out a few pages from

my 30 Days of Thanksgiving Traveler's Notebook...
Since I'm 'pre-posting' it's not completed yet...

I made a few of these for friends a few weeks back
I added the cover embellishment to mine using the sweet decoration off a box my friend Mary Ann made for all of us -
It's perfect!
Then I  went on a stamping frenzy with CZ'z thankful stamp set
[SO FUN!]
I predetermined my photo size and left that blank
while I added in what I was thankful for each day...
Then I printed photos on my computer
and stuck them in at the end of the week -

Some days my thankful might be more a 'universal' thankful -

And other days it might be very specific to that day....
As it was the weekend I was able to catch-up with a long-time friend
and family members I'd not seen for a while....
You can see that I [really] like to add tip-ins too!
Sometimes I covered them with photos on both sides - other times I used some from a cute set from Cori with The ReSet Girl -
Some days might be more serious,

and others a bit more whimsical -
Because, HEY.
I'm VERY thankful to have a little whimsy in my life!
And then of course there's the
every-day things that I'm also thankful for -
[Who isn't thankful when you finally find someone who can do your do just right?\
Each day I just continued to add in what I was thankful for -
blocking out space for the photos...
and then later filling in with alpha stickers and a bit of paper here and there..

Easy peasy - and  a great little book to add to my collection ---
This little notebook is easy to tuck into a bag and carry along with me -
It might be a fun way to document each day in December too!
