Aishling the Airstream Update No. 024

 Retro Rally
Vintage Airstream Club
#IYKYK
THIS WAS A BLAST!
David and Mary Gulley are doing an AWESOME job preserving historic Airstream trailers [as well as others -] and it was a privilege to see this private collection up close and personal. No photos were allowed [understandable] but you can see some of their collection at the link above.
And the surprise at then end - was FABULOUS.
[I think you might see it in an upcoming issue of Vintage Camper Trailers.]
And, OF COURSE - we enjoyed seeing ALL the vintage campers that joined us on this part of our rolling rally... Or maybe... we joined them [wink -]

Because our little caravan continued to Maumelle Campground where there were lots of other vintage rigs for the Retro Rally. Most of these 'streamers were heading on to the International Airstream Rally in Missouri... And we had a great time seeing old friends and making new ones!
Per our founder, we enjoyed a few 'sidewalk cafe' social hours where people could gather and visit over whatever treats they wanted to share...
And AREN'T THESE ADORABLE?!?
We loved our few days in Arkansas - and when we weren't hanging out with the rally folks we drove over to Hot Springs and to enjoy the mineral water --
Here's some info from the internets: "The mineral content of the hot springs in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas varies,
but generally ranges from 270–290 parts per million:
  • Silica: A major component, usually ranging from 44–47 parts per million
  • Calcium: Ranges from 26–50 parts per million
  • Bicarbonate: Ranges from 94–172 parts per million
  • Sulfate: Ranges from 6–28 parts per million
  • Chloride: Ranges from 2.36–3.33 parts per million
  • Magnesium, potassium, and sodium: Small amounts make up the excess carbon dioxide
  •  Other minerals present in the water include manganese, phosphorus, combined nitrogen, iron, aluminum, boron, iodine, and bromine.
The hot springs' high temperatures dissolve minerals from the surrounding rocks, giving the water its unique quality. The water is tested regularly and is safe to drink, though the high temperatures make it unsafe for bathing. Visitors can taste the water at jug fountains around the park"
They dilute it a bit for the baths - and the day we were there the pools were 104*, 102*, 98*, and 96* - I think. Plenty warm to relax a bit...

We also enjoyed exploring the area around North Little Rock [Maumelle -]
    It's a beautiful place!
And we were surprised to find a free-range cow!
    [She's giving me the stink-eye.]
I'm pretty sure someone was looking for her, lol.

But it was also nice to just hang out at the campground...
[We had NO IDEA how busy we were about to be at International.]
Visiting with friends and watching these little sundogs [what would YOU call them?] on the trees was very relaxing. ANd while it was wasn't COOL necessarily... it felt like fall...

So, of course we had a little campfire time too!
It was a wonderful little rally within a rally...
    at beautiful campground -

    We're loving our #AishlingtheAirstream

Much thanks to the Gulleys for hosting us!
