Annie Lee the Argosy Update No. 053

 Let's talk Disney!

Y'all know we've loved going to Disney for years...
And while we're not 'fanatics'** - lol -
we do try and have a visit every couple of years...
We've stayed at Ft. Wilderness Campground since 1994!
[We're old...ha.]
And we love it.
But we're always saying we wished we'd planned more time OUTSIDE the parks...
It's a really beautiful campground, y'all.
We were last there in 2019 with our #LottieScotty,
[pre-pandemic... and came home with a sickness so bad
I wrote it in on our calendar -
We coughed for weeks...
and barely did much more than get to work and back each day...hmmm...]

So, since we were already in Florida for the new year we decided to go on down and stay a couple of days at Ft. Wilderness... not going into the parks because we're just not ready for THAT yet...lol...

First of all I have to say the weather was beautiful!
85* and sunny to start with... [we swam OUTSIDE on January 2nd!!]
Secondly, I'll share that I tripped on the 'patio' area of our site as we were setting things up and twisted my ankle so I was awfully happy to have our scooters to get around a bit...

LOVED riding on the paths... and on some of the trails we had no idea even existed...

We did lots of things that we love to do
[and yes, we know we're different - ha.]
Things like ride the monorail when no one else was on it...

and the early bus rides when no one was around...
[Disney does have a mask policy - and we're good with that -]

And we were  finally able to ride the sky-liner
[it was closed when we were there in 2019] - LOVE IT.

Seriously as cool as any ride in the parks to me
... because y'all know I'm SUCH and adventurer. HA.
We tie-dyed Mickey Shirts at the bike barn -
Oh - I've gotta get THOSE out of the fridge to wash!
We ate a favorite meal at Animal Kingdom Lodge [BOMA] and loved that everything was still decorated for Christmas ... and that there were Christmas CAROLS playing everywhere!!
We enjoyed the water parade down at the beach in the campground... It's tried and true... but they did add a little something extra for the 50th anniversary celebration!

We had another extra special meal at Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge... probably my favorite restaurant in all of the Disney World... and seeing Snow White, Grumpy and Dopey adds to the fun!
We enjoyed riding the monorail out to Epcot

and seeing Space Ship Earth up close and personal...
Truly...
And the fireworks just as we got back to the kingdom...
Pretty Cool...
We took boats over to The Board Walk and had a favorite treat -
DOLE WHIP, of course... yum.
[And YES, his eyes are really that blue... so glad he's done with glasses!]
And after lunch at Downtown Disney Disney Springs, we shopped a bit.
["Window shopped" - ha.
- we're too FRUGAL to buy souvenirs inside the world...]
We enjoyed swimming in the heat of the day and having the hot tub to ourselves for a bit in the coolness of the night...

We ended up adding a day to our stay and we really enjoyed relaxing at our campsite watching these little yellow birds fly around us...
[NOT MY PHOTO.]

We love Ft. Wilderness!
... again - it was PERFECT weather this trip... but we've been there in January when it was 28*, so there's no guarantees...
Still. I can see that snow birding
may not be a bad thing...lol...
**Fanatic - I used to think we might be... but then I met people who are crazier about Disney than we are... lol...
