Annie Lee the Argosy Update: No. 034

So here's the deal:

This could have turned out so much worse.
And we know that.
We are so very thankful that all is well.
And I'm also so very thankful for my awesome, always - researching, always - planning husband who knew exactly how to handle this situation.
We were back on the road about 35 minutes AFTER we heard the blow-out.
Here's how it all 'went down'
[as our young TV Reporters are apt to say...]

We were enjoying the sunny drive home [on a 4-lane highway] from a relaxing camping weekend, talking about life, and what's planned for the evening... and lunch... when...
BOOM.
Then beep-beeep-beeeeeep as the tire monitor went off.
[So cool that he has an app that shows info about each tire as we're driving
and alerts us to issues... minor, and major...]
As Craig slowed down [we always drive under the speed limit anyway]
I looked on the app and could see that it was our right front tire...
Blessing: since we have dual tires and a weight distributing hitch...
no swerving or feeling out of control...
We found a safe place to pull off and take a look at the damage... yikes!
But, blessing: no damage to #AnnieLeetheArgosy - yay!
We [and by we, I mean, Craig -] devised a nifty way to carry our spare tire under the tongue, with screws holding it tight inside the locked box above it... so it only took a few seconds to drop that spare on the ground...
Then we used wood to form the 'jack' to get the flat off the ground....
I'd just heard Craig talking with someone during the weekend about a good [quick and easy, to me] way to change a tire - and WOW. So cool to not have to get on the ground [on a highway!] and put jacks under a camper!
[Been there, done that, back in the day, on more than one occasion...
once on the I-75 heading to Disney... and once coming home from Desoto State Park in the pre - cell phone days...lol]
Blessing: We were able to pull completely off the road and had plenty of room to change it without being on the traffic side at all.
Craig has a box that has all his emergency tire changing tools in one spot, so, wha-la!
He practically had it changed by the time I stepped inside and made us a couple of sandwiches to eat on the road for lunch.

Well, I did have time to take a few pics of the wild flowers around us. ha.
Seriously though -  we know we're on the road a lot
[according to google maps we've traveled 30% around the world this year, already!]
so we know things are going to happen.
LOVE that Craig has a plan in his head as to how to handle it.
And so thankful that we are still healthy enough to manage it on our own.
Also,
Blessing: We had at least 7 people stop to offer help ... but we suspect that more than a few of those were hoping for a glimpse inside our camper....lol... a couple said they had airstreams of their own... it's a great 'family' to be in!
[And blessing: there are still good people out there, y'all]
