Annie Lee the Argosy Update No. 028

 So. Who knew?
Tennessee actually has TWO Davy Crockett state parks!
From the TN State Park website: David Crockett was a pioneer, soldier, and politician. He was born near the town of Limestone, Tenn. in 1786. David Crockett Birthplace State Park commemorates the birthplace of this famous Tennessean. In 1817, he moved to Lawrence County*. While serving in Congress, he fought for his people’s right to keep land they had settled on in the new frontier of West Tennessee. Crockett died at the Alamo Mission in March of 1836 while aiding the Texans in their fight for independence from Mexico. David Crockett Birthplace State Park became a state park in 1973.

*Lawrence County, TN
This is where the Davy Crockett Campground that we know and love is located.

I've got to say that the birthplace state park is located in beautiful country -
Surrounded by awesome mountain views just about everywhere you look.
And we loved the historic towns nearby that we walked and drove through...

Not much shopping or eating due to the pandemic though...
[Ahhh, I miss the good ole days!]
But we did enjoy seeing everything decked out for fall
[my favorite time of the year!]

There was even a few nods towards Halloween in one town...
And love for our country...
This house looked abandoned...
except for the six + cats we saw all over the grounds...
and INSIDE. lol

But it was mostly God's glorious creation
that caught our eye as we were out and about...

We 'had' to visit a couple of Amish Markets
[that were NOTHING like the local stands in Lawrenceburg - and soooo deelish!]

And the views going and coming back to camp were beautiful!

The campground was nice - very open and clean.
You could see many of the other campers from each site...
[Look at that gorgeous sunset!]

Our site backed up to the public road and was on an incline so steep we weren't sure if the jacks were long enough to level us out. But Craig worked it out!
There are sites overlooking the creek and
community fire rings by the creek as well so we were able to enjoy that view a bit.
And thanks to Kyle and his magic we can have flames full of color whenever we want...lol

This vintage event was hosted by Marsha and Allen and was a Halloween extravaganza!
[Her kitty even got in on the action!]
The Halloween decorations and costumes [OH MY!!] deserve a post of their own!
Ours was VERY simple in comparison.
This is just a great group of people that we've camped with several times over the last few years, and even with social distancing - we had a blast!
And probably stayed up way too late visiting around the campfire...
But the weather was perfect and the moon was bright...

We're loving our #AnnieLeetheArgosy - and just enjoy traveling with her... love that we can stop along the way and enjoy a snack in the "comfort of our own home"... lol -
On the way home we picked up a pancake meal from IHop and sat in the Home Depot Parking lot outside of Knoxville to enjoy it...

So.
My review:
Beautiful area. Campsites near the creek feel more connected to nature...
Wonderful paths throughout the park, around the replica birthplace and farm, and creek.
Good cell / internet service. Clean bath houses.
It is not a secure campground... one afternoon the local track team ran through... horse riders also went by [on the public road] just behind our camper... cars easily drove through to view the campers...Bottom Line: It's a long drive for us, so probably not a park we'd seek out just to camp, but we'll definitely be back for this event again!!
It's a beautiful area in North Eastern Tennessee.
