Annie Lee the Argosy Update No. 018

 Top of Georgia Airstream Park
Helen, Georgia
Appalachian Argosy Adventure III
This campground is just north of Helen Georgia and less than an hour from Hiawassee... love the mountain views and stream that runs through it
[dividing the upper and lower campgrounds.]

Didn't love not knowing the bathhouses were closed. [WHAAAA?????] -
but we survived the weekend just fine. [#compostingtoilet]
This was our first time camping at this park -
AND with this group, and despite the rain [RAIN!] we had a wonderful adventure!

Billy Gregory did a great job planning for this group of 18 or so argosy airstreams to get together for a weekend.  And of course, the North Georgia Mountains are always beautiful!

Things are different these days with the cautions we are taking due to the pandemic, but we enjoyed visiting with camping buddies, both old and new...

And we enjoyed getting out into nature a bit since this campground is so close to the Appalachian Trail -

We took a couple of little hikes, but those skeeters nearly ate me alive!
I soon learned I needed to cover myself with skin-so-soft
as soon as I walked out of the camper each day - ha.
It really did rain most of the weekend so we're awfully happy that #AnnieLeetheArgosy is dry with no leaks - we read, watched movies, and I did some painting too.
And we visited Unicoi State Park for dinner one evening...
But the purpose of camping is enjoying nature so we love having our clam [wannabe, from Aldis] pop-up screen room that is waterproof as well -
I know I've said this before, but as we camp more and more in Annie Lee we're getting 'our system' worked out so that we know just how we want things set up - this fan in the screen house is WONDERFUL [we have one inside as well...]
And seeing different argosy airstreams was fun too -
Some completely renovated [and wonderful!], some that were argosy motorhomes, some that did not have the airplane-like shape, and some that were, shall we say, in progress [at least one camper dealt with leaks all weekend long...]
But the sun came out just enough one afternoon for Craig to slice up a watermelon during the hot, summer heat to share with others -
Here's a new concept - we can use the back box as a serving area!
Annie Lee was parked at the end of the line and our door opened up to a huge common area with a firepit, so it was fun to host people for a camp fire each night - social distancing, of course [for some of us, any way - ha]
My review: the camp sites are completely open to one another and most in the lower area do not have pads of any kind [we were totally on the grass] so this is not a campground we would seek out for a long-term stay. But passing through? You betcha!
Those mountains are gorgeous!
