I don't read much sci-fi...
[or magical realism as it's labeled on amazon.]
But I've had the opportunity to read several of Shawn Smucker's books and they always draw me in with wonderful characters that are easy to get to know...
even as they are in 'other worldly' settings...
And These Nameless Things was much the same...
as we follow Dan after he escapes from a torturous mountain ordeal into a serene setting with other survivors.... since I"m [somewhat] familiar with Smucker's writing I caught on a little early to the paths they had / were taking... but I so enjoyed walking with Dan as he begin to realize he wasn't just waiting on his brother to join them... but had some of his own stuff to process before heading east...
And I have to share that I loved Abe, with all of his wisdom and guidance...
and his love for others that was so big he couldn't leave even one behind...
[As a Christ-follower, I related to this love deeply.]
I don't want to spoil the story for you -
I'm sure you'll love it !
Note: I was given a copy of this book from the publisher [Baker / Revell] -
ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.
