Jow Wheeler State Park
Rogersville, Alabama
I know I say this over and over - but I really am so thankful that we have our own little place to get away in during these 'unprecedented' times*.
[I often refer to #AnnieLeetheArgosy as our retirement home...
and it's the best for us bc we can take her wherever we want to go...]
Above is a side of Annie Lee that I don't show often -
but this shows what's underneath all of the paint....When argosys were produced, back in the 70s, they were almost always cream on top of cream with a ribbon of color in between...
If you look closely at Annie Lee, you can see that she's had a few colors painted over her through the years..
Right now we're leaning towards a cream over blue scheme...
But I change my mind every time I look at her.. so who knows?
There's still lots to be done before we get to the painting...
[but she won't be silver or polished...]
So - a week or so ago we went over to Joe Wheeler State Park...
Campground A has recently re-opened after the tornadoes tore through a few months back [B and C are still closed, as is the day-use area...]
It's just as beautiful as we remembered...
This is one of the first campground our boys camped in...
[Matt was three months old and Drew 4 years...]
and I love sitting out by our camper enjoying the outdoors -
[love our screen house from Aldi's too]
So we had a relaxed and fun time...
I enjoyed my Bible Journaling Group on Saturday morning -
so fun that we can zoom and share together!
[Pay no attention to the bottle of oil propping my kindle up - ha.]
The tablecloths are blocking the sun and giving some privacy from the road...
And after a relaxing afternoon
[I added twinkle lights!]
Craig cooked up a mess of crappie and
we had friends from our Life Group over for a fish fry...
social distancing as much as possible...
[missed those who couldn't be with us -]
The weather was surprisingly comfortable for June in the south
and we enjoyed a campfire both nights...
On Sunday morning, Craig adapted our "antenna"
so we could get enough service to zoom Sunday School [life group] and
then watch worship via live stream while we enjoyed breakfast inside the camper...
Technology is a blessing too, y'all.
Cause while we may feel comfortable being with 6-8 people outside [w/ social distance]
we're just not ready to gather with folks inside yet..
Side note - I love to see sunlight filtered through the woods...
Don't you?
Sunday afternoon we had friends and family over to celebrate Flag Day
with crafty DIY tie-dye flag shirts....
I'll share how they turned out soon!
I've realized that these days I've been sharing our adventures with Annie Lee [truly a soul refresher for me] a bit more than the nuts and bots renovation of her...
But I'm sorting through photos and will have separate blog posts for each of the areas completed. There's lots that still needs to be done - but I am THRILLED that we can camp and enjoy her safely [foundation is strong and secure] already!
Her outer color scheme is an on-going discussion between us...
I think mainly becasue we only plan to paint her once so we want to be sure...
But just look at what a difference a good bath does!
LOL
Have a great week every one -
* and yes, I know some people are sick of that term -
but this COVID19 really is something we never [ever]
dreamed of dealing with in our life time...
