Honeycomb Campground
Grant, Alabama
So. My soul needed this.
It's Day 41
- FORTY - ONE -
of isolation / social-distancing / #quarantine for us.
And - yes: I am a self-proclaimed homebody,
[A meme I saw on FB - pardon the language - but it's TRUTH.]
Ha.
As another weekend loomed ahead,
I got the urge / itch / hankering / need
for a change in scenery.
So we called Honeycomb at the last minute and were thrilled to find they had an opening for us! We figured we could social-distance at our campground as easily as we can at home.
[I also believe that THIS will be our NEW NORMAL for quite some time -
so we might as well get used to it -]
And we really love Honeycomb when it's not so busy with all the summer activities.
We took our masks - and gloves - and clorox wipes becasue, call us crazy:
WE WANT TO TAKE ALL PRE-CAUTIONS WE CAN.
And truly - I needed this break...
We took Annie Lee over Thursday after work so Craig could pull his boat over the next day
[and, yes, I pulled her most of the way home {pulled the boat some too} and it's not so bad if I just take my time with it all...]
This was our first time camping in Annie Lee since she's been REALLY cleaned up and comfortable for us. [Make no mistake, there's still a list of things that need to be done...]
We enjoyed camping in her SO MUCH.
I was there most of Friday afternoon by myself [since Craig was fishing] and I just enjoyed sitting out by the water playing with art a bit [I'm trying to wrap my head around how I want my traveler's notebook for camping to be, but that's a story for another time...]
and having what's becoming our traditional first night of camping meal: rotisserie chicken, mixed veggies and rice. Delish. [Tip: buy the chicken already cooked, pre-cook the rice and heat it and veggies in the microwave. YES. We believe in roughing it.]
Matt came over to be with us during the evening
and we enjoyed a campfire during the VERY cool spring evening.
Spring is LINGERING in the South, y'all... something we're not at all accustomed to
and while it's nice, it's adding to all the crazy we're going through. Ha.
We camped the whole weekend without air or heat...
so perfect weather, really.
The rest of the weekend was spent piddlin' around with Annie Lee - just working on / figuring out where we need things to be ... how things will work best...
how we want to continue adding things to make her 'ours.'
... and me saying a million times how VERY much I love all the space!
We enjoyed relaxing in our screen house... Craig fished off the bank some
[the winds were HIGH on this day so he didn't take the boat out.]
I put a 7 can soup in the crock pot that morning so we had that for lunch
and buffaloe chicken dip for dinner...
We had another campfire the next night...
but forgot to get out the s'mores!
And even though we stayed connected with technology [we enjoyed our zoom Sunday School / Life Group class Sunday morning] there's just something refreshing about being out in nature. This was a good weekend with no real agenda.
- And just what I needed...
