I really enjoyed this book

- and y'all know historical fiction isn't my go-to -
Who can resist a first line like this?
This one pulled me in immediately and I loved reading
and imagining my granny in a similar situation...
Stephania McGee told the story of Lillian Doyle [who has lived with her widowed mother her entire life] learning of her father's death with compassion and love...

It takes time for Lillian to learn - and accept - who her father was
and, in doing this, she got to meet and know
extended family she never knew she had...
A family that spoke truth to each other in love
and didn't live their lives to impress others...
A family Lillian felt completely 'at home' with -

She also met Jonah and, of course, their love grew...
But there's some ups and downs - and jail time - before it's all sorted out.
I love how the story has nuggets of truth
about God's guidance in our lives.
He'll give us peace if we follow his calling...
This book has some [A LOT] of action, and mystery, and love,
and acceptance of everyone -- with all their differences -- at the end.
And it's a book I just couldn't put down... and literally read in two seatings.
Sessions? Ha.
Note: I was given a copy of this book from the publisher for review purposes.
All opinions are my own -
And I think it was wonderful!
