Lord Alfred the Airstream Update No. 004

There are so many things I 'should' be doing right now...
but I wanted to take a moment and share about Alfred's 4th outing with us -

#LordAlfredtheAirstream
We traveled almost 1400 miles at the end of February
and enjoyed it sooo much!
He's tiny, but mighty!
I'll share a little about our trip with mostly photos of Alfred for you to enjoy!

Heading down to Disney we did our usual quick overnight at Fair Harbor RV Park in Perry, Georgia. - Got there after dark and left a little after sunrise.
You can see that we can easily carry our scooters on the back rack.
[We take the HEAVY-duty batteries off and put them inside...]

There's plenty of room for us to sit on the sofa together -
[LOVE those wood cabinets!]
And we have a smaller coffee maker that tucks into a cabinet for travel.
I'll get photos of the storage next time we take him out!

Ah, and notice the curtains are new... black out curtains are nice and I sewed them a bit larger so there's no peek-a-boo holes. ha.
Also notice the wall board behind the sink - I have some cute wall paper to put up there in the future. We have a [small] double sink that's perfect.
Fair Harbor is a great park that's easy access off the I-75
with mostly all pull-through sites.
And it was SO easy to level Alfred out
[Craig has a level thingie and an app on his phone -]
plug in the electrical and relax for the evening....
--------------------------------------------------------
We were at Disney for the next 5 nights
and loved every minute of it. Ft. Wilderness is one of our favorite places to camp!
[You can read more about that trip on the previous post.]
So here's few more things about Alfred -
Love the outside light with a switch
easily accessible right inside the door - Our little rug is just the right size!
[We store these two chairs and folding table in the tub when we're driving...]
We [and by 'we', I mean Craig] backed him in all the way to the back of our site and turned him a bit towards the canal behind us.

Loved how secluded we felt in this very busy and full campground.
Our camp site looked empty until you were very close...
We also love how easy it is to 'unhook' and drive him
if we need to run an errand... or go out to eat...
And that he fits into a parking spot!

This is the first time we've actually set up the awning...
And it is WONDERFUL.
It not only gives a little shade, but also sort of 'defines' our space
a bit more, if that makes sense.

AND it kept us dry from the incredibly heavy dew that fell in the early mornings...
[Love our little light clips Craig found for us to use!]
[That basket decor and small folding table go on the upper bunk when we're driving.]
We did not have sewer hook-up at Disney and our grey / black tanks worked well...
We also filled the water tank and used it with no problem...
Of course we had to find an empty site with sewer to dump before we headed out.
[Ears are a photo-op only...lol.]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then it was on to Tin Can Tourist 104th Convention at the KOA in Ft. McCoy, Florida,
complete with a sock-hop one evening!

It was hard [so hard] to find a level spot to park in this sandy, grass-site campground...But I do love this photo with the Spanish moss overhead...and especially after I 'erased' the other campers that were parked all willy-nilly nearby. LOL.

We enjoyed scooting around and seeing all the other wonderful vintage trailers at the convention, and the view of the lake was nice.

But we ultimately decide to leave early because of the sandy mess everywhere, not to mention tiny ants... and it was 80* outside.
[Y'all know I'm not a hot-weather camper - ha.]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We left there and did a quick stop-over in High Falls State Park in Georgia
before driving the rest of the way home.

We always have a couple of salads in the fridge [and all the fixin's we add to it!]
So we'd planned to have a quick meal outside,
but the rain caught up with us...
So we had to pop inside quickly to finish our meal...
It rained most of the night and we stayed snug and dry...*

It was still misty the next morning when we headed home...
*We know there's a leak in the right corner of of the upper bunk...
but we can't figure out how it's coming in... the wall is not wet... just the wood under the mattress... we'll be exploring that in the future, and already have ideas of how to remedy it.
Some notes: Alfred is small. And without the truck to haul things around, we've had to make some BIG adjustments to live / travel with less...There's storage in a big cabinet to the side of the bathroom - accessible from both the inside and the outside.
The fridge is smaller so we're having to adjust to having less stored in there...
And of course, there's no real pantry - so all the food, paper products, etc has to
go in the cabinets above the sofa or sink.
I'll be sure to share photos of all that in the future.
We could both sleep on the fold-out sofa, but we're more comfortable if I climb up on the bunk over the cab... there's plenty of room to move around... and now that I've learned how to manage that ladder it's much easier to get in and out - ha.
[The rungs will eat your feet... and the rail causes bruises if I don't use a pillow. Ha.]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On to the campground reviews:
Fair Harbor - Perry, Georgia
We've stayed here many times. As stated above, it's easy on and off the interstate.
Even, paved or packed gravel sites.
Clean bathrooms. Excellent cell / internet service.
Ft. Wilderness - Disney
So clean and neat with easy access to anything you need.
Even, paved or packed gravel sites.
Bathrooms are wonderful. Excellent cell / internet service.
KOA - Ft. McCoy, Florida
Isolated. Some sites have a lake view. Great clubhouse.
Uneven, sandy or grass sites.
We had to test the electricity on more than a few
sites to find one that was grounded...
Roads are not all paved so you get sand all over you as you travel about...
Bathrooms were clean.
ZERO cell service... sketchy internet service -[one of the reasons we left early because we need to be reachable by those back at home.]
High Falls State Park - Georgia.
This is a BIG campground that feels small.
Our site was nice and even.
Clean bathrooms. Excellent cell / internet service.
Easy access from the I-75.
