So, I think this is the 2nd time we've camped at Bald Mountain RV Resort -
and that's exactly what it is - a camping resort...
Located in beautiful Hiawassee Georgia....
There are lots of things to do - including swimming,
putt-putt golf, paddle boats, etc.
But what did we do?
WE HAD A DUCKY RACE -
It was a fun way to spend some together as a group -
Everyone put their site # on the bottom of the duck and the first one to the finish line won!
MUCH THANKS to Mark, Kyle, and Mitch!
This is an annual event for [mostly] vintage trailers... and it's always wonderful to catch up with sweet friends and meet new ones each year.
There's usually over 50 trailers attending!
Craig does a GREAT job planning and hosting!
This year we had a shrimp boil [DEELISH!]
And MUCH THANKS to Peter, Mitch
and Susan for helping us get it all done!
I think everyone enjoyed it!
We also enjoyed a meal out in rotating shifts [so many of us - so few servers!] as well as a yard sale, movie / popcorn night, and roaring campfire each night -
MUCH THANKS to Kyle for providing all the firewood!!
Oh and we had a fun ice cream social too -
MUCH THANKS to the ice cream ladies!!
There was plenty of free time
[and activity participation is not required - ha]
to explore those beautiful North Georgia Mountains.
but I doubt I EVER make the drive up Bell mountain again... just sayin'.
This event doesn't have an open house, but everyone is willing and ready to share their camper to anyone who wants to see... and there were some beautiful and unique ones there, y'all!
And it's like someone said -
when this group gets together it really is like a family reunion!
We'll be gathering at a different campground next August - details are on the Deep South Caravans FB group - and we're already looking forward to it!
On the way we stopped over in a favorite little camping spot - Parksville Lake - since it's just an overnight we don't even un-hitch, but we enjoy sitting out by a fire [warming our dinner - lol] and listening to the creek beside our site...always watching for bears...
but we've ever seen one...
