Annie Lee the Argosy Update: No. 038

 Hot Springs KOA [June 2021]

Arkansas Vintage trailer Nuts

Okay, if I’m honest [and I can be to-a-fault, right?]

I’d say we signed up for this event as a REASON to go to Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Visiting hot springs [anywhere!] has been on my bucket list for a long, long time.

So – Historic Host Springs: small, but cool… or warm... or HOT. lol.

LOTS of touristy shops [of course.]

The bathhouses that have been there since the early 1900s were pretty neat to see…

We enjoyed the public swim at Quapaw where they had pools [think giant hot tubs] ranging in temps from 95* - 104* [that’s HOT y’all…]

It was also fun to see [and feel] the hot springs coming straight out of the ground…

and see how they have the water funneled to stations where anyone can fill up containers and take it home…

It’s FULL of minerals that are [supposedly] good for you.

The next day we enjoyed seeing the Running of the Tubs – an annual fund-raiser –

[y'all know we wouldn't miss this!!]

where teams can decorate their tub and race through the street

as on-lookers shoot them with water blasters, etc.

There were bubbles everywhere !

Now – on to the vintage event:

This was our fist time to meet any of these campers and we enjoyed visiting a bit and seeing their campers... We attended the 70’s themed gathering and it was fun to see how people interpreted their outfit based on their age in the 70s… lol…

The leisure suit won…ha Still, I think we did okay....

The only thing I remember wearing A LOT in the 70s was my smiley face t-shirt. HA

I'm trying to keep the welcoming decor for Annie Lee down to one little tub...

and maybe I've finally settled on a 'style' for her...

I love this little wicker flamingo I ordered from Kohl's... the plants came from a thrift store... and the sunflowers / jar are from a crafty class I took on-line years ago...

I'm loving this banner I created from a couple of different macrame banners [Hobby Lobby, I think] and this flag we picked up at a store in Kentucky... the uneven-ess of it is driving my ocd a bit batty, so it needs some work...

I wanted to share a photo of how we really LIVE in Annie Lee - this is breakfast -  biscuits baked in the toaster over.. bacon and eggs cooked in the microwave [we rough it...] and coffee from the pot on top of the oven. We usually have snacks in a bowl, water on the  side and dishes in the sink. LOVE the counter space we have!

The Hot Springs KOA is just a few minutes off the main road going into Hot Springs

[we could be in historic downtown in ten minutes.]

But, like most KOA campgrounds we’ve visited, it was crowded with campers literally stacked on top of each other in tiers up the hill. [Think: backing in you had to be careful to not hit the wall to one side while also being careful to not fall off the ledge on the other…truth.] So tight that the guy above us who decided to walk behind our camper one night to  the back area tripped [he’d been drinking {{a lot}}] and knocked our electric connection out. Not fun. [This photo was taken while the spot below us was empty.]

There was a pool but we didn’t have time to use it…also cabins off a couple of loops.

CLean bath houses. Good internet.

If we ever camp in the area again, we’ll probably explore a different campground…
