October has been a month filled with celebrating fall

and one of my favorite FUN holidays -
Halloween!
[Y'all know I don't do the evil - scary  stuff...]
We've several outings where decorating for fall / slash / Halloween has been required and I wanted to have a pumpkin totem...  [google them - SO FUN!] My preference was to make it out of foam pumpkins from thrift stores [I got that little jack-o-lantern on the bottom shelf for $1 a few years back...] But alas, I couldn't find any cheap enough for this quick crafty project...
And I didn't want to spend a lot because I'm not sure I'll use it year after year like I do the star pumpkins that I've had for 15 years... so we bought these $1 pumpkins at WalMart, I think...
and I painted them with some paint we'd already had mixed to match #AnnieLeetheArgosy 's wallpaper... I put on two coats [didn't tape around the eyes or mouth since this project does not require perfection...]
Of course, you could always buy them in cute [bright!] colors - but we didn't want to put that much into this little craft that will only be used a few times...
[and, if I'm honest - I like the muted colors better...]
I wanted them to look wonky so Craig drilled holes in them [some off center]
And, yes - I've numbered them on the bottom so the colors will be in the order I want on the totem.. . I'm a little ocd like that...
I stacked them on the lighted pole that goes with our Frosty the Snowman
and put a witch hat on top [dollar tree, kids] -
But you could put a string of lights in them and then hot glue them together.

Two things: I think it looks a little creepy / crayon-ish when it's lit up...
[I'm not sure I love that.]
And, two, that interior paint gets sticky in the outside weather...lol.
But it adds a bit of fun to our 'haunted hitch' -
And that's always good...
