Vintage Camping Around the Bald
This is the vintage camping event that we've been involved with for a few years now - but due to a glitch in reservations at the former campground this is our first time at Bald Mountain.
And it's beautiful, y'all -
We were able to use this HUGE pavilion during the weekend
and it was wonderful to have enough room to gather together and still allow for social distancing [for those who wanted to do that - US!
There were some others too -]
This is just a great bunch of folks - some we see only once a year and others we see at several other vintage events throughout the year - so it's always nice to have time to visit and catch up with each other.
One sweet couple* found this [super] cool bank bag and presented it to us - with everyone's name / signature - and they've all truly made a deposit in our lives!
We LOVE it!
It will always be a sweet reminder of our camping friends!
Hiawassee is nestled in the North Georgia Mountains -
GORGEOUS.
It's a small town [that recently added a DQ and Zaxbys + a Dollar Tree - lol]
There's one building 'downtown' that I especially enjoy seeing - I think it's city / county offices now... but I daydream about what it might have been 'back in the day' - do you do that too?
Only me? Okay...
There are lots of lakes / bodies of water that are surrounded by the mountains...
This is definitely a place to come to relax [and shop antique stores, etc.]
But we were here for our vintage camper event - and while the pandemic has changed things a bit, we still enjoyed seeing all the different ones -
Here they are:
I hope you can see the video!
[I love the canned hams!!]
We had some scheduled [distanced] activities that included Craig cooking fish for the whole group, the bring your own supper 'potluck' , a yard sale [at the pavilion during a very rainy morning - so thankful we had an indoor space!] and dinner at an outside venue in town...
Pretty good tacos and excellent mexican corn...
The yellow canisters that match my smaller set [will soon be labeled to hold: coffee - tea - sweetener - cream - hot cocoa pkts] And also - THOSE SOLO CUPS!! I remember my dad using these [at work, maybe?] back in the day and I always thought they were super cool!
[And I made a bit more $ than I bought - so, win-win.]
Loved that our campsite backed up to the creek and there was no one behind us so we could keep our back window open most of the time to enjoy the view.

Those windows are one of the things we love most about #AnnieLeetheArgosy .
sitting inside, nice and dry...
And despite the rain showers, it was mostly dry this weekend and we enjoyed visiting around the different camp fire gatherings that everyone had -
We're a diverse group - yet we all love vintage campers and the great outdoors.
It's been so fun to get to know each other these last few years -
And to welcome new friends to the group as well!
And I always come away wishing I'd had more time to visit with each person attending!
Side note: It was a year ago - at this camping event - when Craig found Annie Lee on the market - We had been looking for a twin-bed deal ever since seeing *Angie and Grahl's avion [it's soooo beautiful!] so when we found this one for a price we could afford we quickly toured the other argosy campers at the event and decided that it was for us -- and as you know, we dorve to South Carolina the nest week to pick her up...
My review: It's huge. I don't even know how many sites they have, but we were given a group near the creek and pavilion so it was perfect for our group. There's a game room, paddle boats,
pool, etc. for campers to enjoy and if the weather had been better we
may have given those a try. It feels secluded, yet is close enough to town to grab take-out or groceries [and the Ingles has just about anything you could want!] We will definitely be back!
