a May re-cap.
And honestly?
How is it JUNE already?
[I seriously wrote 3 dash whatever a a date last week ---]
Y'all know I love our springtime flowers in the south!
Primroses growing wild in every nook and crevice beside roadways are an all-time favorite - I LOVE that I have some in my flowerbed!
And, of course our one oak-leaf hydrangea - love it!
Wish I had more, but we have nutty trees in our yard that prevent blooms...
And, of course I LOVE the blue hydrangeas out back!
And the tiger lilies which are decedents from some at the home my mama grew up in -
The other hydrangea is usually more pink and will start blooming in about a month... I know. It's strange since the share the same soil...
And nothing says spring in the south like the sweet smell of magnolia!
These bees were enjoying a FEAST one morning as I left my hotel...
Speaking of hotel - I traveled a bit this month
[spring is always a bit travel - heavy -]
And I DO try to get a little yoga in when I'm on the road - ha.
I also traveled a bit for fun -
And enjoyed a quick girls' trip to Nashville
for the Michael W. Smith and Friends concert -
Over 50 musicians [from all genres!!] singing his songs.
A wonderful evening!!
And then y'all know we spent a few days in NYC with the youngest -
He's still loving it there!
We always a have a few things we'd like to do - but no real schedule...
So we enjoyed taking the commuter ferry around Roosevelt Island and seeing the little light house between Manhattan and Queens.
[And the sky line from the water was very pretty too!]
Lunch at Katz Deli was delish!
So good, in fact, that we ate there a couple of times
And we now have a few pounds of pastrami in the freezer...
that was fun getting through TSA. Not joking.
We had tickets to Wicked before we went and it did not disappoint.
I loved it!
The Gershwin Theater has been renovated and we had great seats - in the balcony, yes.. but on an extra wide row where people could walk freely in front of us ... AND only steps away from snacks and the bathroom.
And Craig was able to find some tickets to
To Kill a Mockingbird -
We were in the rafters - but it was just wonderful!!
Now, the Shubert Theater is soooo beautiful.
But it was very much original and the seats were tiny and right on top of each other. Still, we could see the play well, and it was just so good that you forgot the tiny-rafter-on-top-of-each-other seats as soon as they walked on stage.
And how cool that the actors take the time to come out and meet the people for a moment -
Jeff Daniels deserves every Tony he will get!
We took the time to go down to SoHo
so I could visit one of my favorite designer stores, live and in person.
I seriously LOVE Gudrun Sjoden's designs!
And I'll admit that I really enjoyed walking around
and seeing and touching it all... lol
The weather was gorgeous so we spent a little time in Central Park...
Yoga will wait until next time -
An walking around Rockefeller Center a bit... and
down to Washington Square... for coffee and music in the park...
And Sunday Brunch at Butter - an Alex Guarnaschelli restaurant
- was nice and relaxing.
And absolutely some of the best food I've EVER put in my mouth.
That cheddar jalapeno biscuit was almost too good to eat!
Although, I will admit that Donna Bell's DOES have the best biscuit in Manhattan
if you're looking for a true southern [cat head] biscuit... and at $5, it's hard to beat.
And y'all know we love Abby...
But dontcha know time flies
and before we knew it we had to say goodbye...
If you look closely just past central park
you can where the youngest lives...
And while city life is not me - I'm glad he loves it!
