Encyclopedia of Your Ordinary Life - Z

A few years ago I had the opportunity to complete this extraordinary scrapbook album designed by CathyZ and based on the book, Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life by Amy Rosenthal. While I still haven't read the book, I love the concept of this album - a random sampling of those ordinary facts about your life [my life.] The homework involves keeping a list, A to Z, of random memories for several weeks and then gathering photos [or not] to support these memories. Love it. The album is really very simple [a la Cathy Z] and easy to put together with only two square photos per page and two to four 'definitions.' Have I said I love this album? And I want to share some of my life with you so I've committed to do just that in 2009 [keep in mind this was completed during the summer of 2007.] I'm going backwards, because well, Cathy is one of my Z words and since I would've never completed this without her design; it seems fitting that we start with Z:

ZIELSKE, CATHY

Scrapbook [and graphic] designer extraordinaire! I love her style and have taken to shamelessly scrap lifting it at any opportunity! This album was actually designed by her and I [simply] love the nice clean lines! Her original format was 8.5x11 and the CKU Class for 2007 was 12x12 – but I put my own spin on things with this 9x9 album.

ZZZs

Something I’ve always enjoyed, but can’t seem to get enough of these days due to low iron.

ZINNIAS

Another favorite flower that just screams “Summer!” to me. I so enjoy seeing large plantings of these and often stop to take photos. Have even been known to stop and ask permission to pick some! Would love to have a nice sunny spot to grow my own –hmmm, maybe that’s a project for next year!

What a great idea for an album! I just might have to do this one sometime! I was thinking of doing something similar for my youngest who is just starting to notice her letters. Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you SO much for sharing this lovely photo of zinnias. They are above all my favorite flower. So humble, yet so beautiful. I can remember as a child, we always had zinnias in our rose garden out front. I love pansies and purple irises, but zinnias are tops for me. :)
