A few months back my friend and owner of The Brickyard, Debra Sykes, called to see what I thought about hosting a book launch rally for our friend
Kristy Halvorsen
I've come to know Kristy through different camping excursions these last few years, and also through her writings for the airstream magazine, The Blue Beret.
I love reading her writing.
Here's my review:
This book is an unexpected
autobiography of the author’s experiences while living full-time in her
airstream. As I began reading this book about author Kristy Halvorsen’s
adventures coddiwampling [“to travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague
destination”] I was expecting to read her tales from life “on the road”… I
enjoy her stories in the Airstream magazine, The Blue Beret, and found that
much of the book reflects those same connections she makes as a solo traveler.
And she did share her beautiful stories of traveling through New Foundland and
Nova Scotia and the people she met along the way... But it turns out this
is an unexpected autobiography of the author as she explores her search for
unconditional love and acceptance [perhaps without realizing that is what she
is looking for…] Kristy candidly shares how her childhood experiences shaped her
into a person who was reluctant to fully open up to love and happiness... In
the book she shares how all of her encounters with those she meets have shaped
her into her true self, ready and able to accept love and all that comes with
it.I found it interesting that she shares
how she lives a life accepting whatever happens on the road as something to
surrender to and yet she held the strings of her heart so
tightly. Ultimately, she has come to a place of letting go, accepting her
feelings, surrendering to the fullness of love even if it brings some pain
along with it. The Perfect Unfolding is a story we can all learn
from …about accepting life however it might unfold, [ …finding your true self,]
and being fully comfortable in the life you live.
Debra and Charlie have the perfect setting for a rally and we enjoyed several author talks where we discussed the book as well as ways we can all grow into the person we are meant to be -
I'll admit -
I still LOVE seeing those shiny brites all lined up together!!
After a wonderful weekend we had to get an early start home because we had things to do and people to see...
But it was great!

The only thing not to love is that we don't live closer!
