Let's talk about Meaher State Park
We've wanted to stay here for a while now...
Info from the Wikipedia: Meaher State Park is a public recreation area located on Big
Island, an island at the north end of Mobile Bay that lies within the
city limits of Spanish Fort, Alabama. The state park occupies 1,327
acres along the shoreline of Ducker Bay, at the junction of Mobile Bay
and the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta.
Aishling is just a bit longer than our Argosy so we've been wondering what to do about our driveway - Due to the steepness, Craig has to be extra careful pulling #AishlingtheAirstream in and out to avoid dragging the bumper. [We'd gotten an estimate to re-do the grade of it - and we're just not sure we want to put that kind of money into it right now...]
While we were at Disney, we finally decided that she needed a lift, so at the last minute we got an
appointment at Foley RV in Gulfport, Mississippi to have it done.
So
we had a looooooong drive day from Orlando to Meaher State Park near
Mobile - Probably the longest we've ever pulled a camper inone day -
It was our first time and we think it's a wonderful campground!
It was just a quick overnight stay so we cooked frozen pizza in our convection oven.
Are you tired of hearing me say how much I love that thing?!
The next morning we had a rainy day as we headed through the tunnel on our way ... We stopped at a favorite breakfast place on the west side of Mobile as we headed to Gulfport, Mississippi -
and Foley RV
where we left out camper for a few weeks.
We stopped at Meaher again after we picked her up in Gulfport
on our way to Mystic Springs, Florida.
Driving through Mobile after dark was a treat!
And during
our second stay at Meaher we were right on the bay and
had a beautiful view of Mobile's skyline at night.
We had a little more time to explore the campground and found it was very clean and neat! It was good stopover on our way to / from Gulfport!
We'd love to stay there again someday...
