We've always wanted
to camp at Chewacala State Park in Auburn, Alabama
but back in the day [when we had boys at Auburn - war eagle- ]
our schedule just didn't allow us time to make this happen...
So we were so happy to be able to attend a vintage gathering
with friends there last month -
Here's some photos in [very] random order - ha -
Yet we were withing MINUTES of town.
Very nice.
And his 'magic trick' is always beautiful!!
using only watercolors that I had with me..
And I sure wished I felt strong enough to walk down to the falls
[maybe I need to not 'baby' this knee so much ...]
I enjoyed walking around and being outdoors!
And I loved seeing the stone work that was
It reminds me of the cabins and area around the
TVA dams my father worked at my whole life...
and had lots of fun prizes to choose from...
And we had the best little welcome to our campsite with
this sweet mama sitting in her nest...
in our grill.
And while we DO eat out some [a lot] while camping we also enjoy a meal or two at the campsite - even if it's leftovers from subway - ha-
I found these plates at a local thrifty store - and so happy they match the pattern of the lunch plates I served grilled cheese on last month ... its the little things, y'all.
to hold paper plates while camping -
But mostly we enjoyed visiting around the campfire and getting to know new friends while catching up with some we haven't seen in a couple of months.
Campfire time is always good.
So.
Chewacala State Park -
My take:
Small park [only 36 sites ]- full hook ups -
Clean and neat, woodsy areas -
WONDERFUL mountain bike trails.
Clean bath houses -
Good cell and internet service -
