Annie Lee the Argosy Update No. 064

 Joe Wheeler State Park
Rogersville, Alabama

We've camped at this campground regularly
for the last 35 years or so, but they've recently been closed due
to tornado damage, so it was nice to be back over there.
[Not far from our house...]
This was a little gathering we'd planned with family who were staying in the lodge while we camped. They were able to enjoy our camping atmosphere AND a nice lodge / hotel room that overlooked the pool too!
But Little B enjoyed snuggling up inside our
#AnnieLeetheArgosy to watch some 'toons too - lol -
We packed a lot into our few days together so this post is going
to be willy-nilly as I share some photos of our weekend -

OF COURSE we enjoyed roasting marshmallows
and making s'mores!
[We love our fire pit that Craig made out of a washing machine!]
And y'all know we enjoy our scooter rides!
[I think the kiddos did too!]

While they enjoyed time at the lodge
swimming and relaxing

We took the time to hike [a very short] trail down to a creek
that flows into the Tennessee River.
Drew and Haley came over for a night and we enjoyed him
entertaining  the kids- us all with his magic powers!

Before they headed home we enjoyed a game
or two of the domino train
[now known to us as flamingo train - ha]
We'd forgotten how fun it was!
We stayed an extra night and the weather was PERFECT
so we invited friends over for the evening -

We roasted / toasted more giant marshmallows,
enjoyed hobo meals...
and, YES! more Mexican Train!
All in all a GREAT camping trip!
Joe Wheeler State Park
My take:
The entire campground is now open and most of the newer sites are in a sun-field [because the tornadoes took out all the trees]
but many of them now have gorgeous water views!
The newer sites are a bit more spacious with well-maintained camping pads.
Older sites are rustic and close together.
Bathrooms are clean -
Internet / cell is good.
Close to a small town,
but within an hour of larger towns like Athens or The Shoals
where we went for ice cream one day. [At Trowbridges, of course!]
