Like everyone, we had good things, and not so good things
going on through-out the month…
We enjoyed camping in new places and seeing new things as we bravely crossed the Mighty Mississippi in Memphis to spend some time in Arkansas [for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of doing this recently, the MAIN I-40 bridge is closed for repair and ALL the traffic gets squeezed into the 4 lane I-55 bridge [as in two lanes each way.] Good Times.
So good that we decided that instead of sitting STILL on the interstate for a few hours on the way home, we took a route south of Memphis and came across on a lesser traveled road from Arkansas to Mississippi. Cool.
So. Let’s start with not so good things: some of our family has been hospitalized for different medical issues this month… and covid procedures [which we COMPLETELY understand] can make it hard y’all. Happy to report that all is better now. [It’s their story to tell.]
Also, we’ve had a couple of unexpected issues with #AnnieLeetheArgosy … first the blow-out that resulted in all new tires for her. The tires we had were known to have issues, so we feel very blessed that we didn’t have a safety concern in this situation – yay for dual tires! Yay for a safe place to quickly change it on the highway. And yay to all the concerned passers-by that stopped and offered to help.
Annie Lee also developed a not so minor electrical issue this month – thankfully, while setting still in our driveway. Not fun, a bit scary… but Craig is so good at researching and finding the problems [and the pros to assist] that we should be good-to-go again soon.
I had the opportunity to share Bible / Faith Journaling with a group of new friends this month! It was a wonderful afternoon that I’ll share more about soon –
And we had the absolute pleasure to assist in setting up for a wonderful woodsy wedding for some sweet friends of ours. I think it turned out SO BEAUTIFUL… especially considering it was all pulled together in just a few weeks, once the groom received his orders for leave…
Craig facilitated the ceremony…
and despite the crazy rain, it was a wonderful special day!
I LOVE how Craig finds the best [out of the ordinary] places for us to stay as we travel! On the way to Hot Springs, we stayed overnight at Tom Sawyer RV Park – right on the Mississippi, where we could watch barges float up and down the river with a view of the Memphis skyline in the background. [Again, another post is coming, but] it was a fun little over-night spot for us!
And we SO ENJOYED having a few days to explore historic Hot Springs [and other parts of the city too] while we attended a vintage camping rally there one weekend.
Maybe this should be a post all its on too, but it was cool [relatively speaking - ha] to experience the hot springs a a bath house, the fountain, and yes, coming straight out of the ground...and also to be there for their annual Race of the Tubs – LOL –
Y’all know that’s right up our alley!
We’ve returned to in-house church attendance: Bible Study, Sunday School, Worship… and it’s just SO GREAT to be back with believers worshiping out Lord. I’m so thankful we still have virtual church for those who can’t be with us.. and we still log-in when we’re traveling!
Oh, and we stayed in a hotel for the first time in over 15 months…. As I was checking out one morning I had the thought – very clearly – I AM SO GLAD I DON’T HAVE TO DO THIS FOR WORK ANYMORE. I loved my job, and retirement is very different from the fast-paced life I lived…
but I don’t miss being on the road for work at all.
So there’s that. HA.
Lastly – we stopped by a farmer’s market for the first time in… A WHILE…
and, YES, please…
Everything looked yummy and delicious!
I’ll be sharing some peachy goodness with you soon!
