Diamond Lakes Resort [May 2021]

Western Kentucky Vintage Rally

Sooooo - doing a little catch-up on all the places we've camped

this spring / summer so far...

I think I’ve shared before that we decided earlier in the year to branch out a little in our camping adventures and go to places we’ve not been to before – and Diamond Lakes Resort in Western Kentucky fit this requirement!

It seems kind of out in the middle of no-where to this city girl… lol.

Seriously, like 40 minutes to a store for milk, etc.

First let me say that everyone involved with the vintage event we attended was wonderful! It was a fun rally with an ‘out-of-this-world’ theme

that was interpreted in so many creative ways!

All the vintage campers were in one area, making it easy to see them

and visit with each other.

We enjoyed visiting with new friends and some that we’ve not seen in a while…

and we enjoyed going into town

and walking by the river, thrifting [always!],

and eating all kinds of bbq… including burgoo -

which is similar [but not really] to our brunswick stew...

My take: the campground is not for us.

All of the areas surrounding ours were very crowded…and it includes cabins, and even motel-like structures… There is NO [zero] regulations re: golf carts and they were EVERYWHERE, tricked out with special lights and decorations with music blaring from each one at all times of the day and night

[think any teenage cruising strip you’ve ever seen.]

And anyone could be driving them – young kids to grannies, lol…

and the worst of it was that many were gas powered

so that added to the noise and stink. Ha.

Bath houses were good… internet was great…

But we like a more peaceful [less party] setting, so we won’t be back…

Hoping we can catch up with this group of campers at another event in the future!
