I'm not a big fan of historical fiction...
like middle ages historical...
but Jody Hedlund drew me in with her latest book,
Come Back to Me
about
medical scientist, Marian Creighton, and her search for a cure for the
disease that her sister is diagnosed with, the one that took their
mother. Her father, also a scientist is equally obsessed - although on a
different track altogether, and this has led to distance between them.
It's
only after her father falls ill that Marian begins to believe his
theories regarding holy water might hold truth. And as she experiences
passing between the present and living in the 1300s she begins to search
for answers that could change the projectory of their lives...
She never expected to fall in love with the Knight who rescued her...
and once she was firmly established in the Middle Ages
she isn't sure she wants to go back to the present.
This is a thought provoking book, full of action, science, faith, [lots of] theories, and yes, love.
To
me, it seemed to end rather abruptly, as if the author had met the word
count and didn't have the space to tidy up the different story lines...
then I read in the notes that there is indeed a sequel planned - and
y'all know I love those!
I read it within 24 hours ... and I'm already anxiously waiting to order
the next book in the Waters of Time Series!
Note: I received a copy of this book from the publisher [Revell] for review purposes...
ALL opinions are my own.
