There are no words...

or maybe there's really
SO MANY WORDS
that need to be said...
about things going on in our world today ...
This inequality that we continue to see
should be bothering every single one of us.
Here's what I know -
I woke up in the middle of the night thinking of Demarkus* -
And I've honestly not remembered that name in over 25 years...
You see, he was the first baby I ever removed from his unsuitable home
as a young social worker back in the day...
[His mama had her own issues and just couldn't provided the care needed
and family did not step up to help -]
Demarkus* would be in his early thirties today -
I know because he was born the same year as our oldest... and that was the hardest thing I'd ever done; take a one year old [precious baby] from his mama.
A few nights ago I woke up wondering...
How is he today?
Is he safe?
Is he self-sufficient?
Is he scared?
Has he had the same opportunities as our sons?
And I'll never know...
But I pray he is... and is not...
And is living a healthy and productive life...
*NOT HIS REAL NAME
I wonder if other sw friends have had a similar experience?
And I'm sure we all have because we work with families, frail adults, teenagers, and kiddos of all ethnic backgrounds - and we want THE BEST for all of our clients.

I love this quote  - given to me from a County Director that I respect and admire -
There are SO MANY WORDS out there on social media right now -
But I really believe we need to internalize our desire for peace, kindness, acceptance, equality, love for all.
Love God.
Love people.
I really believe it MUST begin in our homes -
