So. A few weeks ago Craig found a guy who could work on
#AnnieLeetheArgosy 's frame, axles, etc.
[Craig really does a great job researching
the best person for the BEST price!]
[Can you see that we are still soooo undecided on paint color?!]
Lucky for us - the axles were in great shape.
But the tongue wasn't.
[Doesn't she look odd without the tongue on?]
It had to be completely removed and rebuilt.... along with some other structural repairs on the frame underneath. I'm SO GLAD we decided to make this structural stuff our first priority! And also pretty happy that it didn't fall off as we were pulling her down the road!
While these repairs were being done, we also had a new bumper put on [this is the old one - ha.] The new one has an opening in it so the drain tube can be stored inside it.
But not so lucky for us was all the floor repairs that needed to be done - both in the front [under the couch] and in the bath room [no surprise there. - I still think of my conversation with the guy we bought it from:
ME: "I noticed the bathroom floor is a little soft, do you know where the leak might be?"
HIM: {sitting on the couch, trying to make the deal to sell her to us - not realizing that in our minds WE'D ALREADY BOUGHT HER.}
"Is it? I haven't noticed."
ha.
Let's take a look at the front first
[and the back was just as bad -]
Lucky for Craig the guy doing the frame work allowed him to work on the floor while it was inside his large garage. [We don't have an inside area big enough for Annie Lee.] It was cumbersome because not only did he have to remove the entire couch, he had to remove the water tank in order to repair the floor - And yes. we put it back, even though we may never use it - we want to keep her as original as possible.
We never wanted to do a frame-off repair, so we were very lucky he had a place to work on it from underneath... taking the old out a section at a time..
That looks bad, doesn't it?
But Craig did a wonderful job repairing it all!
[And we were able to clean up those wall too!]
He used the old floor as a pattern to cute new flooring to fit the curved walls.
But since it was NOT a frame off job he had to cut it into two pieces in order to fit it all into the grooves of the frame. And yes - there were pieces welded underneath to hold it securely after all was said and done.
There ended up being a tiny little gap between the two pieces that was fixed later.
It looks simple enough in these few photos - but it took a lot of time and effort...
Annnnnnd... he got to do it all again with the bathroom floor. Whee.
Our living area looks like this today - Lucky for us we were able to save most of the flooring. [It was re-done five years ago.] We definitely want new flooring, but it's low on the priority list right now. When we replace it all it will go completely under the couch to cover all of the plywood.
And lastly -
I'M lucky to have a husband who is such a great handyman!
