#LottieScotty
down to Florida for a few days...
[on what turned out to be our last trip in her.]
We were headed for a week at Ft. Wilderness [Disney] but left a little early so we could take a swing over to Weeki Wachee "on the way"...
We found a little privately owned campground that basically gave us a pull-through site for the night - as we arrived late in the evening,
and left before the sun was up the next morning...
[I still think she is ADORABLE.]
We never un-hitched. lol
This made us re- think the possibilities of 'boon-docking' with #AnnieLeetheArgosy
And with her solar power and compost toilet, I think I could handle it.
So back to Weeki Watchi...
Way back in the day when I was 6 or 7 years old my family took a trip to Tampa to see a cousin [who was really closer to my mom's age] and we visited Busch Gardens while there... I also have a very vague memory of going somewhere and watching REAL mermaids swim.
So I've been on the look-out ever since - ha.
A few years back I realized it had to be Weeki Wachi Springs and I've been trying to figure out a way that we could add this to a trip ever since!
So when Sean [Sean of the South, sweet potato pie and shut my mouth -- we sang that together recently, you know -] mentioned it in one of his articles. I just decided NOW is the time. [I'm not getting any younger, y'all.]
And I was pleasantly surprised to see all that this little park has to offer - and for such a great price! It's a wonderful water park, and nature adventure! I really wanted to go on the boat ride to see the manatee - but hey, we had a reservation in Disney for that afternoon, so I knew going in that this was a morning-only thing...
We enjoyed walking through the park before our scheduled show...
Took advantage of a few photo ops - ha.
[This is actually two photos spliced together since there was no one
around to take it for us - can you tell?]
For the show we went down into a 'cave' and there were walls of glass where you could see the mermaids swimming [and performing the play] in a natural environment. The show was based on Hans Christian Anderson's Little Mermaid
[a bit different than Disney, but still fun for the kiddos.]
I thought it was great fun!
Kind of neat to see them swimming with [in the wild] fish -
They had oxygen tubes that they shared to breath while under water [and they each stayed under a long, long time.] They also used it to make bubbles that added a bit of excitement for the kiddos watching.
All in all, it was a nice little morning to enjoy some Florida sunshine.
And despite our pending engagement at Disney that evening - it was wonderful to have an un-hurried morning together... and see some very rural areas of Florida that we've never shared together. [Have I mentioned lately how much I love adventuring with my sweetheart?!]
But back to #LottieScotty - we knew we would sell her as soon as we purchased #AnnieLeetheArgosy - and I was surely hoping to sell her while in Florida
[I wanted her to be far away so I might never see someone else camping in her.
Crazy, I know]
Craig did his FB MarketPlace magic, and we got an acceptable offer - so we left her at her new home on the bay in Cocoa Beach.
I hope they love and care for her as much as we did!
She was a good ole girl...
