So y'all know we went to South Carolina
to pick up Annie Lee...
It's been years since we've been over that way ...
And this was such a quick trip!
[It honestly reminded me of that crazy college trip we took to California,
"to see the surf" for about an hour way back in the day --
the trip to and from took MUCH longer than our actual time there. HA.]
We arrived around midnight...and got up early [6 a.m.] to seal the deal...
and check out the tires at a tire shop before we headed home...

Annie Lee was setting in the yard of the sweetest cottage that belonged to a couple who were both artists [oh my! Such gorgeous art! They allowed us to take some photos, but I won't share here due to privacy.]
I loved the tropical plants in their yard!!
And the lane they lived on!
Just wonderful!
After we had the tires checked out we drove along the bay and took some photos of Annie Lee before we brought her to her new home.
And we stopped for breakfast in the downtown area of Georgetown, SC.
at Aunny's Country Kitchen...
where I had the best shrimp and grits [YES! for breakfast!]
IN MY LIFE.
We so wanted to stay and explore this little town for a while...
but time just wouldn't allow...
Insted, we followed the evacuation route through winding country roads
[for about three hours - MUCH more enjoyable in the daylight! ha.]
until we got back to the interstate.
Despite the threat of a hurricane in just a few days, the traffice wasn't bad... it was just a long, long trip...
We really hope to get back over that way to explore South Carolina properly...
Ahhh... retirement...
It's sounding better all the time...
