I was thrilled to have the opportunity to share some tips on all things journaling
at the Becoming Conference
[ #BecomingConf ] at Lake Junaluska at the end of July -
It's such a great conference -
a weekend designed to encourage and inspire women to live intentionally
by becoming more creative and purposeful.
There were SO MANY wonderful teachers / bloggers / crafters
there to share and encourage us !
I love learning about frugal gardening...
and balancing the need to be pinterest perfect vs living like a slob - ha.
She worded much better than me!
And of course - it was so fun to win a door prize or two!
When I was asked to be a part, I was eager to pack my bags
and head to the mountains!
I really, really enjoyed meeting with over 200 women and talking about Art Journaling, Bullet Journaling, and Bible Journaling during the Girls Night In each evening!
This was not a class, but more of an open-house, come-and-go type evening...
So
I decided to go with mini posters with step-by-step ways to at art to
your journaling
[throughout the evenings I helped groups draw through
these steps more than once because I KNOW everyone can draw something!!]
The posters also showed how I have used similar art in my Bibles -
I
also created tag stations where they used a template to cut a tag
out of patterned papers and then took it to the tables with all the
wonderful
Bible Journaling products from Day Spring
and create however
they wanted...
And of course, I had my journals, Bibles, and traveler's notebooks there to share
[and maybe inspire a little -]
Our room was crazy busy for about 4 hours because these gals just enjoyed creating!
[This photo is actually taken about 10:45 one evening when things slowed down enough for me to think about a photo - ha.] It was great! And I hope the Lord used me to inspire each one to spend a little time with Him creatively.
Of course part of the fun of a Ladies Weekend
is getting together with old friends and meeting new ones -
And we LOVED the photo booth!
And it was fun to have a little free time for Christy with Southern Plate to teach us how to sing Row Row Your Boat backwards. YES.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO -
So fun!
Every area was beautifully decorated and inviting -
And Jen Schmidt with Beauty and Bedlam is the ultimate hostess and conference leader - working tirelessly behind the scenes to help us all feel welcomed
and loved and accepted just as we are!

After the conference I drove the few miles over to Maggie Valley before I headed home -
it's been YEARS since I've been there
and let me say it's almost remained like the mountains of our youth!
Lots of campgrounds, cute souvenir shops, pancake and fudge places....
But I had to take a picture with this saddest bear I've ever seen...
Although, he looks pretty happy, doesn't he?
Maybe that's how we should live - content in the life we have,
looking for joy around each twist and turn...
